Description:
The aim of this course is to develop the students' skills in the visualization of three-dimensional shape of molecules; draw the stereochemistry of organic molecules; identify symmetry elements in molecules; learn the basic tools for the preparation of enantiomerically enriched molecules. Besides a strong focus on stereochemistry, chiral pool, chiral auxiliaries and asymmetric catalysis (organometallic, organocatalysis and biocatalysis) of several important transformations in organic synthesis will be explored.

Additional information of course implementation:
The course will be equally divided into lectures and exercises classes in Period 3. It will be mandatory for the student to attain at least to 50% of the exercises classes. A seminar will be assigned in the 4th Period. This course will take place every second year. It will be implemented in Spring 2015 and Spring 2017.
