Learning Outcomes

Student is able to explain the chemical structure and reactivity of fibres, and the properties and behaviour of fibres based on the chemical structure. Student is able to explain the mechanism of diffusion, adsorption and swelling. Student is able to explain the bonding of fibres and colourants. Student is able to name the components of detergents and bleaching agents and the process steps of washing, pretreatments, dyeing, and finishing of textiles, and student is able to describe their meaning and effect on textiles. Student can name the colourants for different fibers and the finishing agents, and is able to describe their properties and behaviour. Student is able to identify and name the machinery of textile chemical processes. Student is able to recognize the procuct safety issues of textile production and purchase. Student is able to name the common colour fastness standards and describe their content.
