The objective of the course is to provide the students with a firm grasp of the central issues of environmental security, both from a) the point of view of environmental developments - such as environmental degradation (floods, deforestation, desertification and climate change) – for societies, national states and transnational and geopolitical dimensions and from b) the perspectives of human activities and economic growth including the use of natural resources & the use of energy and the threats of political activities, such as conflicts and wars, to the environment. The course familiarizes the students to the attempts to solve the risks of environmental security.
