Learning outcomes

Upon completing the course, the students:

1) understand the main features of the current energy transition away from fossil fuels towards renewable sources of energy and de-carbonised energy systems in a historical-institutional context

2) understand the complexity of energy transitions ranging from the dimension of resources, technology and infrastructure; to finance, markets and business models; political and social institutions; and on to the ecological and air quality dimension

3) can analyse energy policy reforms in a particular country towards a de-carbonised direction

Attendance requirement: a minimum of 80%. Grading: 50% workshop presentation, 25% reading circle presentation, 25% active participation.
