Upon completion of the course students are able to
? analyze the implications of topical political events and processes for international relations in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR)
? recognize elements of continuity and change in relations between Finland and Russia, the European Union and Russia, or Nato and Russia in the Baltic Sea Region
? construct arguments about political dynamics in the Baltic Sea Region
? propose solutions to problems in the political situation in the region
The course is offered as a Cross-Border International Relations winter school, organized at the St. Petersburg State University, Russia, 21-25 November 2016.
The programme consists of the following lectures (tbc) by Russian and Finnish experts:
- “The Future of the relations between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union” (Lanko)
- “The implications of the EU-Russia conflict for Finnish and Swedish foreign and security policies" (Pesu)
-“Transboundary water management on the borders between Russia and the European Union” (Lanko)
-“Impact of the Russia-EU conflict on cross-border cooperation in the region” (Yarovoi)
-“The Future of EU-Russia Relations” (Forsberg)
