After completing the course, the student is able to:
-apply DNA mutagenesis
-perform DNA sequencing
-produce recombinant proteins
-purify proteins using chromatorgaphic methods
-analyze proteins using electrophoretic methods
-utilize recombinant proteins and mutagenesis as a research tool
Laboratory course focusing on recombinant DNA technology and protein research.
During the laboratory course we prepare recombinant DNA plasmids encoding for recombinant proteins and their mutants. We produce the proteins in E. coli, purify them using affinity chromatography, and analyze the proteins using electrophoresis and Western blot.
Laboratory report 50%
Laboratory work performance 25%
