This course introduces students to essential concepts and typical practices of management in media organizations.
Lectures investigate strategic planning, decision-making, media competition and economics, unique traits of media content as products, and internal organization dynamics. Case study material is presented by guest lecturers from the Finnish media industry. In addition to the lectures, students will work in teams on practical exercises and present their results in class. A term paper is required of each student.

Given the content of this course, to enroll students must have already completed their basic studies in Journalism and Mass Communication (tiedotusopin perusteet 25 op / ECTS). Advance registration is not required. Students will sign up for the course on the first day of class.
