DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE:
What do a house renovation, a PhD defence and a space ship launch have in common? They are all projects—temporary endeavors aimed at creating unique outcomes. They should all have a schedule, a budget, a certain level of quality, etc. To animate these projects, somebody needs to manage and lead them. This course in Project Management and Leadership consists of 11 lectures and 6 practical sessions delivered in three days. The course will give a solid grasp of the Project Management discipline and possibilities for its application to projects in the biomedical field. As practice shows, anyone from a PhD student to a practicing Project Manager will benefit.

Selection method is draw. Maximum amount of students is 30. Student has to check the selection from NettiOpsu after the enrolment time.
Mode of Completion: Active participation is required. After the course, participants write a short 2-3 pages project plan (real or imagined) on the basis of issues discussed on the course.
INSTRUCTOR BIO
Sergey V. Nesterov holds a medical degree (MD) from the Faculty of Medicine, St. Petersburg State University (Russia) and a PhD degree in Human Physiology from the Institute of Evolutionary Physiology and Biochemistry (Russia); he holds postgraduate certificates in Project Management and Business Administration from the University of Wales (UK) and is a certified Project Management Professional (USA). He also is an Adjunct Professor in Clinical Physiology at the University of Turku (Finland) and a Research Programme Manager at Turku PET Centre (Finland).
