?Preparing for Copenhagen: Climate Change and Development Issues?
The seminar on the 16th of October consists of a wide range of interesting presentations from experts on development and climate change to NGO representatives and academics. The tentative list of speakers includes Larry Lohmann (the Corner House, Durban Group for Climate Justice), Witoon Permpongsacharoen (Towards Ecological Recovery and Regional Alliance - TERRA), Antto Vihma (Finland Futures Research Centre) and Sini Harkki (Greenpeace, Finland).
The course is arranged jointly by the Universities of Jyväskylä, Tampere and Helsinki, Helsinki University of Technology, Finnish Association for Nature Conservation (SLL), Service Centre for Development Cooperation (KEPA), and Siemenpuu Foundation.
The course is open for all undergraduate and graduate students interested in development and climate change. Attending the seminar is free of charge, and it will be held in English. More information updates at: http://www.sll.fi/ilmastokiertue
The lectures on Mondays from 9th to 30th of November include speakers from UNIFEM Finland, WWF International (gender specialist), an organic farmer and scientist from India and a representative of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
