Learning outcomes
This class focuses on the relationships between individual ambition, parties, and party systems in advanced industrialized democracies. We will focus on how the political-institutional context, e.g., constitutional systems and electoral rules, affects how political activists organize both to influence policy outcomes and to attract voters, and how the results and relative success of their efforts affects legislative bargaining.
