This course explores the transformation of the welfare state and experiences of subjective wellbeing in contemporaryRussia. It discusses the basic features and institutions of the welfare system, health and social policy, social work, and people’s everyday experiences of wellbeing and engagement with welfare institutions. A particular attention will be devoted to looking at the class and gender dimensions of welfare and wellbeing in Russia.
