After completing the course the students have a grasp of descriptive statistics and measures of association. They understand the basic principles of statistical inference, modeling and testing. The students are able to identify most common study designs and to choose appropriate statistical methods for analyzing various types of data. They can perform the analysis with a statistical software SPSS or R.
Exam, exercises and assignment
• Attendance in the exercises is required
• Each week students are given a set of exercises that they solve at home. The tasks cover problems with pen and paper and with SPSS.
• In the beginning of the exercise class, the solutions to the homework problems will be discussed together.
• Before the solutions are presented, the students marks down the tasks (s)he has done and is prepared to present.
• Each task marked is worth of one point and they can increase exam scores by following:
• 50.0-59.9% - 1p • 60.0-69.9% - 2p • 70.0-79.9% - 3p • 80.0-100% - 4p
