The main objective of the course is to create discussion on the structure and development of work and welfare and their relationships. The employment system concept will be used as an analytical tool to analyse the national systems of societal work. Our argument is that societal work can be done in various forms like as paid work vs non-paid work, formally regulated work and informal work, self-employment and wage relation and voluntary work. All of them contribute ? or at were taught to contribute - welfare for the society and the labour themselves but in various degrees and forms. The shares and combinations of paid work, informal care work and voluntary work may change over the individual?s life course, society and socioeconomic situation. Taken this we are interested to study the changing forms of work and employment and the ways how the work and employment contributes the welfare of individuals, households and the society in large.
