European Union Politics, 10 ECTS

Learning outcomes

After completing the module the students possess a solid understanding of European integration and EU decision-making. The students are familiar with integration theories and understand the interaction and interdependence of national and European levels of policy-making in modern European politics. The students can assess the roles of various member states and EU institutions in the history and decision-making of the EU. The students can analyze how integration affects national politics and particularly the Finnish political system. The students can also discuss the main challenges facing European integration and use their knowledge of the EU to evaluate its performance.

Content

The module consists of two parts: POLVOA21 European Integration and the Political System of the European Union (5 ECTS) and POLVOA22 Multi-level Governance and Europeanization (5 ECTS).
