Language Studies can be completed as follows:

1. English Language Studies, 3-6 ECTS:

* The English proficiency of all students on master’s programmes taught in English will be tested at the beginning of the academic year with the Oxford Quick Placement Test. English Language Studies for degree programmes taught in English will be determined on the basis of the test results such that a student will take both English Oral Skills and Writing Course (3 ECTS) and Introduction to Thesis Writing (3 ECTS) or only the latter.

AND

2. Finnish Language and Intercultural Communication, 6-8 ECTS

* Finnish as a Foreign Language: beginners’ or more advanced courses 6 ECTS
OR
* Finnish as a Foreign Language: beginners’ course I (3 ECTS) and Introduction to Intercultural Communication (5 ECTS)

OR

Studies in Finnish as a Foreign Language and Foreign Language Studies, 6 ECTS:

* Finnish as a Foreign Language: Beginners’ Course I and another foreign language (other than English or the student’s mother tongue) (3 ECTS) at least to CEFR level B1-B2
