KKVE2 RUSSIAN TEXT COMPREHENSION 3 ECTS

Intermediate Russian Course II or equivalent skills (A2 language proficiency level), approximately 170-200 hours (or two years) of language studies.

General description

This course is in accordance with the faculty requirements for a foreign language text comprehension / written skills course.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this course, students will
- be able to look for the essential information from web pages, news and general texts
- understand the central parts and be able to summarise the essential contents in own words
- be able to write about themselves, their lives, their fields of study and their plans in their own words and justify their views and choices.

Contents

The material consists of different types of text from current news to newspaper and factual articles, and from literary stories to interactive surveys. Reading emphasises understanding the main parts of the contents.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Numeric 1-5.
Regular and active participation, completed assignments, a written examination. N.B. The group can agree to compile the written assignments into a portfolio, in which case the grade from the written examination weighs considerably less in the final grade.

Material prepared by the teacher liable to a fee.

Further information

This course can be completed by taking a Russian written skills exam at the beginning of the term, or by taking this course directly. The exam can be attempted only once, and the course is compulsory for those who fail it.
