Learning outcomes

The unit aims at giving the basic information on the historical roots of the cultures and societies in Northern Europe and the Baltic Region between c. 800 - 1500 AD.

Contents

The unit explores the expansion of the Christian culture sphere to the North, the competition between the western and eastern churches, and the influence of the Vikings and the Hanse.
