KKSA20J2 INTERMEDIATE GERMAN COURSE II 3 ECTS

Intermediate German Course I or German in school as a B2 or B3 language (A2 language proficiency level).

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students will
- be able to easily understand standard-language texts
- be able to use language orally in ordinary communication situations
- be capable of oral interaction in order to get or give clarifying information necessitated by the situation
- be able to link phrases together to describe events and experiences
- be able to describe plans and justify opinions
- be able to write a well-functional text concerning current events or their own life
- be familiar with basic grammar
- be familiar with the society, culture and media of the German-speaking countries

Contents

Oral skills will be practiced in pairs and small groups by using authentic training material (listening comprehension exercises). Text comprehension and writing will be practiced through study material and newspaper articles. Linguistic structures, such as relative clauses, final constructions, indirect interrogative sentences and adjective degrees of comparison will be practiced in pairs and individually in class and at home through glossaries and explanations compiled by the teacher.

Students should contact the teacher if they are not sure about course levels. Students can test the level of their German skills independently at www.goethe.de/cgi-bin/einstufungstest/einstufungstest.pl and receive results that are in accordance with the language proficiency level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
