General description

This set of books is about working principles of information storage and retrieval systems. Main emphasis is on the Web environment.

Learning outcomes

This set of books gives a good comprehension of information retrieval systems' basic components and operations. After completing the course a student is expected to be able to:

-know the essential terminology of information retrieval
-know the main elements and working principles of an information retrieval system
-read information retrieval research literature

Contents

The typical architecture of information storage and retrieval systems; indexing procedures and text processing for indexing; matching and ranking; queries and user interfaces; clustering and classification; social search.
