The goal is to familiarise students with the basic structures of SQL databases and using ER modelling. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to model data using ER diagrams, convert ER models into SQL database (relational database) schemas, and use a database with the help of SQL language.

Course topics include establishing a database, updating data and posing queries in SQL language, ER diagrams and conversion from an ER diagram into an SQL database (relational database) schema.

If you have completed the course Principles of Information Systems, you can take this course. If you have completed the course Database Programming (10 ECTS/5 cu) before autumn 2004, you cannot get credits for this course.
