On completing the course, students - can understand, read and write basic Arabic language - can understand and use easy and simple words and basic expressions to talk about school surroundings and family - can participate in simple conversations where they tell about themselves and about their immediate surroundings, providing that the conversation partner speaks slowly and clearly - can seek and provide information and give background information - can express ignorance and admiration - can express request and apology and offer things politely - can tell the date and recognise calendars used in the Arab world - can write short sentences and fill out simple forms.
Contents
The course presents a variety of reading, writing, listening and speaking activities along with grammar lessons. The course is based on peer and group work in different situations. In addition to the work done in the classroom, the course requires independent work for instance in the Self Access Centre of the Language Centre, where students may improve and develop their learning skills according to their own needs.
