Learning outcomes

The students learn to compare the EU’s foreign policy across regions and issue areas, and develop an understanding of the material and economic basis of European integration.

Contents

This course discusses the main approaches and theories to the European Union’s foreign policy. With these theoretical tools the course examines the materialisation of EU foreign policy vis-à-vis northern Europe, Russia, western newly independent states (NIS/CIS), south-eastern and the southern direction, including relations with the Caucasus, Central Asia and northern parts of Africa. Energy supply chains and issues of international political economy will be accentuated in the course.
