Learning outcomes
After the successful completion of the course, the students will - be familiar with the multidisciplinary field of public and international health. - understand the historic, economic and cultural context of public and international health, the key concepts used in these disciplines, and various approaches to assess and describe population health. - know the basics of the distribution of and trends in health and health promotion on global, regional and national levels.

- History, development and key concepts in public and international health - Contemporary issues in various disciplines in public health (e.g. mental health, socioeconomic disparities, aging, work and health, life-style, demographic changes) and in international health - Introduction to health systems and their financing - Major initiatives to improve population health at national and international level - Health assessment and indicators used in public and international health

Minimum number of students for the course to be organized is 8. Maximum number of students 32. Priority is given to health science students (MHS and KTT).
The course is organized every other year in the autumn term, next time in the years 2015 and 2017.
