Learning outcomes

To offer multidisciplinary knowledge – based on cultural political economy – on the development of transnationalism in the European North, to learn about basic issues and dynamics related to transborder cooperation, emerging territoriality of the EU, state transformation and political spatialities under construction in the European North.

Contents

1. Introduction to cultural political economy and political transnationalism: a) key concepts, b) processes and c) actors.
2. Political transnationalism in the European North: a) making transnational space in the EU, b) transnationalising the Finnish State, c) transnationalism, nationalism and political elites

Lectures, exam, additional reading and individual essay writing (min. 3000 words)
