Learning outcomes

To gain background information on their research, students become acquainted with previous research work done on their research subject and deepen their knowledge of related theoretical analyses while finishing with the use of their source literature (4 ECTS9. Simultaneously students hone their skills to report on their research choices in good Finnish. Based on the literature that they have selected, students write an essay (10 ECTS) which can/will be revised by its contents and language.

Contents

In the essays, students may cover for example (1) the contextual issues of social work or (2) the development and management issues in social work and welfare services by using multidisciplinary literature.

Teaching methods

Providing a background for research work and writing an essay on literature which must be negotiated with the instructor.

Evaluation

Pass/fail.
