Learning outcomes

To familiarise students with the English sound system and train pronunciation skills.

Contents

An introduction to English phonetics and phonology, extensive practice in phonemic transcription, and systematic pronunciation exercises.

Written tests in theory and transcription, and a reading test.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Numeric 1-5.
The grade takes into account performance in theory and transcription tests in addition to practical pronunciation.

Further information

A grade of at least 3 is required in order to complete Basic Studies with an overall grade of 3 (or higher).
