Learning outcomes

To introduce students to the genres and major concerns of the Shakespeare canon.

Contents

Four plays read within their historical and social context, discussing questions of genre, theoretical approach, cultural importance, and stage productions and screen adaptations.

A book exam alternative is also offered for those not attending the course (see Study materials).

Four plays by Shakespeare, announced at the beginning of the course.
