Learning outcomes

• to train the student in an independent systematic approach in setting research objectives, choosing research methods and carrying out research
• to enable the student to acquire in-depth knowledge in a specific problem or topic in the field of international health
• to train the student in handling scientific research material, presentation of data and reporting of scientific studies.

Contents

Carrying out a research and writing a thesis or journal article. In the case of an article, it must either be published or submitted in a Finnish or international scientific peer-reviewed journal. The student must be the first author of the article. Additionally, the student must write an essay in which he/she describes and reflects the research more widely than it is possible in the article. The student must also write a short report on the research process.

Writing a Master’s thesis in a global health topic. Participation in the Maturity exam.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Approbatur-laudatur.
Master’s thesis will be evaluated both with written statement and degree approbatur, lubenter approbatur, non sine laude approbatur, cum laude approbatur, magna cum laude approbatur, eximia cum laude approbatur or laudatur. Maturity exam will be graded on a scale of pass / fail
