Learning outcomes

The objective of this course is to introduce students to database systems concepts with focus on design, development and implementation of biological database systems.

Contents

Database systems concepts, entity-relationship data model, relational data model, introduction to SQL, XML and XML Schema, web services, relational and XML-based DBMSs, design of biological database systems, entity-attribute-value modeling, model organism databases, integration of biological data, analysis workflows.
