To familiarise students with the methods used in cross-language information retrieval (CLIR) research and with the methods of language technology applied in CLIR-systems.
Contents
Dictionary-based methods. Corpus-based methods. The applications of machine translation in cross-language information retrieval. Language typologies from the viewpoint of cross-language information retrieval. The multilingualism of the Web and information retrieval.
