Learning outcomes

To familiarise students with practical aspect of designing a research project and writing a research plan.

Contents

• Preparation and processing research plan for master’s thesis using a model plan as a template
• Familiarising oneself with other students’ research plans, giving constructive feedback
• Background and justification to the research project
• Aims, hypothesis and approach of the study
• Study population, representative sample, selection criteria, recruitment and sample size calculations
• Methodology and plan for data collection and analysis
• Defining outcome variables
• Protection against bias, internal and external validity of the results
• Ethical considerations relating to the research process
• Practical arrangements of the study, budgeting

Attendance is limited to students enrolled on the Master's program in Health Sciences (International Health).
