Learning outcomes

Students write a Master's thesis to prove their intimate knowledge of their chosen subject, the necessary research methods and their skills and qualifications for academic presentation and good literary expression. In addition, students take a maturity test related to the thesis, if they have not already completed it in connection with the Bachelor’s thesis.

Contents

During the Master's thesis studies, students become familiar with the subject of their thesis and the theoretical discourse and previous studies concerning it. Students learn how to select the applicable research methods and use them. Students learn to report on the research using good Finnish and academic methods of presentation. As the studies progress, students carry out a research process in accordance with their subjects and methods of choice, and report on this process in their Master's theses under the guidance of their instructors.
