Main and intermediate studies in accounting. Sufficient English language skills.

Learning outcomes

The goal of the course is to introduce students to behavioural research in management accounting and to prepare them to recognise, understand and cope with the human aspects of management accounting.

Contents

The course introduces students to the past, present and future of behavioural research in management accounting using journal articles. In addition, the different behavioural themes in management accounting (motivation, participation, organizational climate, emotional competence, etc.) are addressed in the case exercises, essays and seminar discussions.

Teaching methods

Small group lectures, cases, essays, and seminars.

Teaching language

Finnish

The course will be taught in English from Fall 2009.

Modes of study

1. Active participation (over 90%) in small group lectures and seminars
2. A teamwork essay on a journal article and its presentation in a seminar
3. A teamwork essay on a behavioural theme and its presentation in a seminar
4. Acting as an opponent in a seminar
5. Learning diary

Evaluation

Numeric 1-5.

Further information

The course will be lectured in English for the first time in autumn 2009.
