KKAR11 INTERMEDIATE ARABIC COURSE I 3 ECTS

Beginner's Arabic Course II or similar skills (A1 level of language competence).

Learning outcomes

On completing the course, students
- can understand, read and write basic Arabic language
- can understand and fairly fluently use basic expressions to talk about daily activities, studies, food and family
- can participate in simple conversations where they can tell about themselves and about their immediate surroundings, providing that the conversation partner speaks slowly and clearly
- can tell the time and talk about daily activities
- can describe activities in the past, present and future
- can report other people's speech and compare entities
- can talk about the weather and the seasons
- can write simple sentences and short texts
- can talk in Arabic or in English about Arab culture (e.g. food habits, family relations, women in the Arab world, etc.)

Contents

The course offers a variety of reading, writing, listening and speaking activities along with grammar lessons. The course is based on peer and group work in different situations. In addition to the work done in the classroom, the course requires independent work, for instance in the Self Access Centre of the Language Centre, where students may improve and develop their learning skills according to their own needs.
