Learning outcomes

The course reflects on the historical development of Sweden through literature and so provides background information to the Swedish society of today.

Contents

An advanced reading and understanding of Swedish literature from a historical perspective. The texts read and analyzed illuminate text historical and sociological changes, as well changes in the history of thought, in Swedish literature and the literary institution. Approximately 1500 pp of text, with 50 pp of poetry, and some non-fictional prose.

Teaching methods

Lectures on large developments and main features; group seminars and discussions on literary analyses.

Modes of study

Group discussions and literature seminars.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Numeric 1-5.
Level of participation in the seminar; exam pass/fail.
