Learning outcomes

To master the basics of Latin and to be able to produce written Latin texts. To become familiar with Latin literature and the principles of academic research work.

Contents

Students choose a selection of the following books and read them using comments and translations: Cicero, Brutus (2 ECTS), Orator (1,5 ECTS), two speeches against Catiline (1 ECTS), Cato (1 ECTS) or Laelius (1 ECTS); Caesar, De bello Gallico, one book (1 ECTS); Sallustius, Bellum Catilinae (1,5 ECTS); Livius, the 21st book (2 ECTS); Petronius, Cena Trimalchionis (1,5 ECTS); Tacitus, Annales, the 1st book (1,5 ECTS).
