Level A English in upper secondary school, or equivalent skills (B1-B2 level of language competence). To achieve the required starting level, students may for example take an English prep course.

Learning outcomes
The objective of this course is for students to become familiar with the conventions of English academic writing and to acquire the skills to use electronic sources related to English writing while producing academic texts. After completing this study module, students will - be familiar with the structure and main linguistic features of an academic article - be aware of the correct use of sources (references, summarising vs. plagiarising) - know how to write an abstract
Contents
During this course, students will practise - the structure, sentences and words found in of academic texts - the universal terminology of science - the sources/programmes needed for writing a logical academic article in English (dictionaries, online writing labs, databases, RefWorks) - writing a logical abstract based on text analyses

Evaluation by vocabulary test, active participation in exercises and abstract.
Recommended year of study
Second year of studies, in accordance with the Medical School timetable. The course will be integrated into the Medical Knowledge and Research course.
