Learning outcomes

Basic survival skills at the University of Tampere and in Finnish society in general. Drafting your personal study plan (PSP).

Contents

Part of the course will consist of the general orientation course for foreign students in the university, and part will be specific to IBT and degree programme, including the obligatory Information Retrieval Education of Department Library of Health Sciences (Tertio).

The focus of the information retrieval (IR) education: the introduction to the practices, collections and services of the Tertio library, to understand the meaning of IR skills in studies and working life, to learn the efficient use of essential electronic information sources and to manage references and format a bibliography. Contents: 1) Library Orientation, 2) Information Retrieval part 1-2 (two sessions), 3) Reference management (Refworks)
