Learning outcomes

First of all, the students will develop understanding of the interrelations and dependencies of economic and social development. Secondly, students will learn to evaluate scientific reports. Thirdly, students will learn theoretical and analytical concepts used in the socio-economic debate.

Contents

This course will give students the opportunity to gain insight into the theoretical discourse on economic and social development and how the social policies may help in tackling the poverty and social divisions in the society. Secondly it helps understanding the substantial similarities and differences between the various welfare state regimes in narrowing the caps of income differentials and avoiding the poverty.
