This course is intended to be an advanced course for those students of Humanities, who wish to learn to work effectively in English in international academic seminars.
Learning outcomes
To introduce students to the practices of academic seminars and to improve their facilities for logical argumentations to be used for or against opinions and statements. After completing this study module, students will - be aware of the typical conventions of academic seminars and texts - recognise the differences between statements based on facts, opinions and feelings - be able to participate in a seminar debate as a defender or an opponent, a chair and a representative from the audience - be able to form a justified argumentation chain by expressing thoughts logically and by presenting relevant evidence from outside sources - be able to hold a seminar presentation
