Learning outcomes
Understanding genomics approaches in bioinformatics, namely application of global analysis tools (both experimental and bioinformatic) to assess gene and protein expression, function and interactions either at genome-wide or system-wide level. Knowledge of bioinformatic analysis methods of genomics data and practical skills to perform simple analyses.
Contents
Genome-wide sequence data and comparative genomics; genome annotation, genome browsers; gene prediction; gene and genome variations; transcriptomics (microarrays and transcriptome sequencing); proteomics. The main focus is in bioinformatic methods, but the course provides material for understanding the experimental background, too.

Pass/fail.Recommended year of study
1st year. Continuous registration during terms. The course is open for self-study even during holidays, but with limited or no tutoring from June to August.
