Upon successful completion of the course unit, the student will understand and be able to interpret and analyse a specific topic related to the English language or English-speaking society or culture. The student will be able to describe this topic and its significance for a professional translator or interpreter. The student will also be able to apply the acquired knowledge in translating and interpreting.
Contents
The course unit offers the student an in-depth overview of a specific topic related to the English language or English-speaking society or culture. The student can complete the course unit either by participating in a course offered by the degree programme or by reading literature related to the topic and writing an essay on it. The essay should be 15–20 pages long, and its topic should focus on the English language or English-speaking society or culture. If the student chooses to complete the course unit with an essay, they should negotiate its terms on a case-by-case basis with the professor of the student's study track.
