To become familiar with the research methods and materials of the study of history.

Methodology studies consist of an information retrieval course, method courses and a literature section.
The information retrieval course (2 ECTS) taken in connection with the proseminar is compulsory. It provided students with the facilities for information retrieval and the use of archives, scientific libraries, statistics and electric materials from a historian’s point of view. There will be visits to archives and libraries.
The optional method courses concentrate on different applicable methods of the study of history. These include interpreting old handwriting and texts, cartography, statistical methods, qualitative methods, concepts and theories of social and cultural research, and special issues of various research fields.

Methodology studies consist of an information retrieval course, method courses and a literature section.
Methodology studies can also be completed by writing essays agreed upon with the teacher in charge of the course.
