General description

An introduction to qualitative research methods in health sciences.

Learning outcomes

Having passed the course the student is able
- to describe the premises of qualitative health research and the characteristics of the qualitative research process
- to describe different types of data gathering methods and understands why and when to use them
- to formulate relevant research questions for qualitative research
- to recognize the key analytical approaches and to implement the principles of thematic analysis to an empirical data
- to understand the principles of writing up a qualitative research and to evaluate qualitative studies analytically
- to understand the principles of qualitative research ethics and the role of qualitative research in public health
