For students who have a good grasp of the basic grammar and vocabulary of German, based on a B2 or B3 language in school (B1 language proficiency level). If necessary, students can participate in an intermediate German course before taking the actual text comprehension course.
This course is in accordance with the faculty requirements for a foreign language text comprehension / written skills course.
Learning outcomes
After successful completion of the course, students will - understand general German texts - understand texts in their own field - recognise and understand structures typical of general texts - be able to tell about their studies in writing and summarise the main points of a text in their own words
Contents
Students will revise and enlarge their core vocabularies on this course. There will also be exercises for improving and practicing structures important in text comprehension. The texts will consist mostly of topical articles from newspapers and periodicals. There will be related written exercises.

Further information
During the academic year, an optional test of text comprehension (structure and text) will be organised twice for students who already possess the language skills this course aims at. Those who pass the test will be exempted from the text comprehension / written skills course.
