Preceding studies
The faculty general studies courses Empirical Research Methods (3 ECTS) and Basics of Statistics and SPSS (5 ECTS. It is recommended that students complete the course A5 no later than simultaneously with this course.

Learning outcomes

Students master the practices of seminar work. Students are able to set a research problem and select the appropriate theoretical discourse and methodological instruments to solve it. Students are able to compile a scientific text entity and use scientific arguments. Students select a topic for their Bachelor's thesis from the contents, professional practices and activity environments of social work. During the seminar, they produce a Bachelor's thesis of 20-30 pages. Upon separate agreement, the thesis can also be a more condensed scientific article.

Further information

In connection with the seminar, students complete 2 ECTS credits from Finnish language studies in the language and communication studies, and the faculty general studies course Information Acquisition II (1 ECTS).
