Learning outcomes

To examine the significance of Europe for Russia's foreign policy from the perspective of history, cultural background, main priorities and motivational forces such as identity.

Contents

Historical overview of Russia and the idea of Europe, conceptual background and institutional framework of Russia's European policy, idea of Europe and the Russian political spectrum, ethnic, religious, and national factors in Russia's relations with the rest of Europe, Russia and European institutions, Russia's bilateral relations with key European countries.
