The aim of the course is to immerse the students in the differing formulations of what are the arenas where authority is imposed and communicated.
Contents
The course reviews thought on cultural resources as effective tools and mediums of political communication. Such thinkers as Toynbee, Morgenthau, Bull, Waltz, and Huntington are reviewed. This course develops a nuanced understanding of how cultural diplomacy takes place today. The practical issues studied range from official cultural exchange programmes to more callous exchanges of commercial culture.
