This course is in accordance with the faculty requirements for a foreign language text comprehension / written skills course.
Learning outcomes
After successful completion of the course, students will - understand general texts - to some extent understand special-field texts from the media, literature and current events - be able to write simple general texts and texts that are of personal interest - be able to tell something about the French culture and compare it to their own - learn and be able to use an enlarged vocabulary - recognise structures typical of literary language
Contents
The course goes through different types of text: newspaper articles, literature, internet material and specific texts where students analyse the language, synonyms, main points, the use of grammatical structures, etc. There will be plenty of peer and group work, and essays and summaries.

Further information
During the academic year, an optional test for written skills will be organised twice for students who already possess the language skills this course aims for. Those who pass the test will be exempted from the text comprehension / written skills course.
