Learning outcomes

To learn basic features of media landscape in Europe including their historical development and current characteristics in different parts of Europe, understand the role and place of media in European societies in general and in Russia in particular.

Contents

History of media in Europe and Russia; legal, political and economic structures of contemporary media in Europe at large and in Russia in particular; different paradigms of public communication and normative theories of the media.
